This has been an exciting week for the Juvenile Justice Project. We attended the Juvenile Justice Summit to discuss the school to prison pipeline as well as ways to reduce the amount of young people that are taken to jail. We also had some exciting meetings with potential service partners in Hickory Hill.
Memphis United hosted a “Know Your Rights Theatre” workshop at GRAD Academy in South Memphis. We believe it is imperative for young people to have a strong grasp of their constitutional rights. If you are interested in us hosting a workshop for your organization you can email Paul Garner at paul@midsouthpeace.org.
We have also been lucky enough to have interns Shamira (Bolton High School) and Rabiatou (Whitehaven High School) from the city’s Youth Employment Program. This week we took them to meet city council representatives and county commissioners.
