EMOTIONAL SUPPORT FOR ACTIVISTS

December 12, 2012 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

EMOTIONAL SUPPORT FOR ACTIVISTS

Registration is closed for this event
Support and healing for people interested in/working for world change.

A workshop led by Laura Sullivan

Those of us who are active in various groups and efforts to change the world need support. This workshop will help you to:

*shift and transcend over-extension, and feeling overwhelmed and ‘burnt out’

*overcome any bad feelings about yourself (feeling as if you are not ‘doing enough’)

*achieve more balance between focus on yourself and on the social world

*make your physical, spiritual, and emotional health a priority, even while you are changing the world

*overcome feelings of despair, isolation, hopelessness, and powerlessness

*work through difficulties and feelings about social change groups and leaders

*develop and speak your visions about what kind of society we are working to create

We rarely have the opportunity to share and delve into our feelings related to the state of the world, feelings such as grief, anger, and fear. Typically we go about our lives and our work to help others and function ‘on top’ of these feelings. This workshop is a start towards providing the collective, confidential space for emotional healing related to all of these concerns, a space we all need.

This workshop is for: activists, social workers, counsellors, community service workers, healing practitioners, people working for peace, teachers, labor organizers, and anyone who is or wants to be involved with social change.

Date: Wednesday December 12

Time: 6-9 p.m.

Location: Memphis Center for Independent Living,

1633 Madison Ave.
