Memphis United is hosting its first Juvenile Justice Project Youth Conference September 22 and 23. This event is open to community partners for the JJP, potential community partners, and middle and high school students across Memphis. The first evening, which is open to everyone, will focus on grassroots organizing skills and approaching organizing from a youth-centered perspective. Saturday, which will be exclusively for middle and high schoolers, will be youth led and youth driven. We will have workshops on non-violent conflict management, knowing your civil rights, sexual assault awareness, entrepreneurship, and more. We will also have a mix and mingle lunch featuring local organizations, mentorship groups, and apprenticeship opportunities.
Registration starts at 5:00 pm Friday night and the event begins at 5:30 pm. Workhops will run until 9:00 pm.
Saturday breakfast will be served 8:00 am - 8:45 am. We will get started right at 9:00 am and will go until 6:00 pm.
We look forward to sharing this exciting weekend with you.
